CONWY, 13/2/11 ~ Wirral superstar plunders Eggy pools

Conwy water gardens had been drained since our last visit so that the hoardes of small silvers could be netted and thinned. With water levels back to normal, many thought carp would win the match.
Wirral Borough AC have held a winter league series both last year and this, so, having missed a couple of weeks, the reigning champion, and current joint leader that is Ian Simpson, joined us as a guest to get some much needed practice.
Ian certainly thought that roach would play a part and in the first three hours put 25lb of them into the net. With action drying up he turned his attention to the carp, and managed to winkle half a dozen F1s out, on banded pellet, for an overall 38lb and victory. A masterful performance, but don't ask to come again!!
The Garden Gnome also thought roach was the way to go, and predictably fished maggot on a top four kit. With no bonus fish, just roach, roach and more roach, he fell short, weighing in with 36lb 04oz, although there were some good sized fish in amongst them.
Kenny Stuart had a totally different approach, and fished on soft pellet. He managed a couple of carp, but the mainstay of his third-placed 32lb 04oz was quality skimmers. The skimmer maestro strikes again.
Both section winners had nets of carp. Tony the Crafty Cockney was in the money for a third time in succession, with his net resembling a carp aquarium. He caught 25lb of mirrors, commons, goldfish and F1s on 8mm pellet, after being 'roached out' on the 6mm version. You're fishing well, Tony, stop it now.
Despite leaving both whupass and tea-bags at home, John Edwards still found carp on the method, and won the other section, this time with 25lb 08oz. Well done Sumo, now I know why you got so many Fishomania tickets, SKY needs quality anglers. 

MORETON BRICKWORKS 6/2/11 ~ Stevie Cee shows Yozz the way home

A big congratulations to Steve Coleman on his win at the brickworks. Pegged in the top bay, Steve made full use of his draw and caught a couple of lumps down the rushes on pole fished maggot. He added a few roach too and ended up putting 24lb odd on the scales. Well done.
When the scales came round Yozz had been in the house for two hours watching the rugby. By one o'clock he'd caught just 2 miniscule roach and decided to 'do one'. Hence the lack of report, don't know the facts, sorry.
