There's an old adage, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything". Well I'm saying very little about this match.
20 members went into the drawbag, and by mid-match at least half were ready to go home.
Gary Chambers continued to demonstrate his paste fishing prowess with a runaway victory. His 39lb 05oz carp net secured the win by a country mile, and once again he put the lottery money in someone else's pocket. The lucky recipient was Ken Pickup AGAIN. Superb display from Gary.
The rest of the frame read as follows:
2 - Pete Lucas ........10lb 09oz
3 - Dennis Jones .....10lb 08oz
Section - Lee Pickup....10lb 02oz
Section - Jamie Pickup..7lb 08oz
Well Done everybody

GORSTY HALL, 9/10/11 ~ Better to be lucky than good......
We all learned a new tactic this week, with the help of the method maestro. Just get lucky at the drawbag then sit in a deckchair and let someone else do all the hard work for you. Sit making rigs till midnight and prepare quality bait? err...no. Think your way through the match, taking account of likely conditions? err....no. Pete Lucas got the lottery peg and guessed at 41lb.
Gary Chambers then worked like a trojan to get presentation right in the stiff breeze, and managed precisely 41lb of paste caught carp. A masterly performance earned him a winner's medal and £32 in pools money. Pete took home £100 for doing diddly-squat. No green-eyed monster from me though. Well done Gary and well done Pete.
Yozzer Hughes finished in second place, having fished meat and paste at 5 & 9 metres to weigh in with 36lb 14oz of carp and quality skimmers.
Third spot went to Dave Norman, who gave a great display of feeder fishing, and ended up just short with 35lb 05oz of carp. Dave alternated between method feeder and straight lead, and after a slow start, he put fish in the net on a regular basis. Oh for another half hour?
John Heald started off like a whirlwind and looked like his method approach would empty the lake. Alas, it was a false dawn, and things slowly tailed off, leaving John with 21lb 06oz, and a section win. Not bad though, for a pensioner.
Surprise, surprise... Dave Cargill with maggots! Cargy had 5 carp on the feeder and then scratched about with maggots for a couple of pound of roach, which made all the difference, and put him in the money. Another section win for Dave, a good effort.
By the way, Lucas = DNW
