LATHOMS No1, 29/6/14 ~ The Gnome makes short work of end peg flier

After the last visit, the lake was pegged to give everybody a bit more room. It made no difference whatsoever.
The excellent level of sport remained the same. Like last time though, an end peg was favourable.
Yozzer drew the one at the windward end of the lake and used it to great benefit. Able to catch on his usual short pole approach, the Gnome fished maggot shallow, alternating with a corn line down the edge. The result was an F1 dominated bag, going 77lb 08oz at the weigh-in.

Kenny 'master-catcher' Stuart drew the other end. Pellet in the margins saw Ken find some proper carp and put a decent 55lb 14oz on the scales.
It turned out to be only good enough for a bronze medal, as a brilliant performance by Dave Lynch off the next peg resulted in a mixed bag of ide, chub and F1s falling to Spadger's maggot (and later pellet) shallow attack. A total 59lb 10oz put Spadge into 2nd spot, relegating Kenny to third. A really good effort by both members.
A section went to the ever consistent Dirk Wriggler with a level 51lb, while the other one was won by Sumo Edwards, fresh from his victory in the Cornwall Classic, with 52lb 08oz. Dirk caught mainly shallow, as did Sumo on his new-found gimmick, the Jigger rig. A big well done to both lads.

Spare a thought for Lord Leasowe's butler. Struggling to line the fish up, Andy kept bringing his keepnet in to check that the few fish he had caught hadn't escaped. It had nothing to do with hooking the end of the net. After doing this 3 times it became contagious as the Crafty Cockney, Cookie Monster and finally Yozzer all reached for the keepnet disgorger. Congratulations to them all for maintaining the levels of incompetency we have come to love within the club.
