Lingmere Xmas Match 18/12/16

i can count to potato This is not funny.

SUMO shows us he is learning after last weeks timekeeping affair.

Guest Blog this week from SUMO .
As you all know he is desperate to be in charge so every now and again we throw him a bone to keep him interested.

This year's Christmas match saw 20 members turn up at Lingmere Fishery in Moreton. Even some of the club's rarely seen superstars turned up. Honestly, they'd turned up anywhere when a free bowl of chilli after the match is on offer!
After one of Jan's usual lovely breakfasts the draw was delayed up while we waited for Paul Rob to show up. Apparently he's changed his hair mousse from L'oreal to Tresseme and it takes a bit longer to set.
Rumour was that the bottom lake was the place to be and most were looking forward to drawing down there. Pato drew 44, end peg on the bottom, and immediately decided that he would catch fuck all. He spent the next 5 hours doing just that. Either he's clairvoyant or it just goes to show the power of negative thought.
Jambo Pickup took the day with 64lb 11oz of mainly F1s on the feeder to the island from peg 42.  A brilliant display of accurate casting  (his words, not mine) and a great weight on a hard day.
In the next section Horrible Harrop showed his much improved tip fishing technique by getting two casts into the water before he went squirrel fishing up the trees on the island. He admitted defeat and chose the pole to win his section with section with 13lb 6oz of the 100lb of fish in front of him!
Meanwhile, things on the top lake things were not so good (honestly). Absolutely no wind, bright sunshine, and lower than recent temperatures really put the mockers on things.  Steve Hudson took his section with 17lb 1oz but as he was hidden behind the island I'm not sure what he did. Knowing Steve it would have involved a feeder and some bread. There was nearly a fatality in this section. Dennis Jones started talking so much bullshit that poor Steve Coleman on the next peg nearly drowned in it. Steve's not been out with us for a while and hopefully this incident won't put him off.
The next section was won by Lee Pickup with 13lb 4oz, but again as i couldn't see Lee, and didn't expect to be blogging this match, I don't know what he did but well done son.
Someone else won the next section but I'd rather not talk about it..............oh for fuck sake OK then, Golden Balls Buck 'The Bastard' Rodgers drew his usual flyer (20) and proceeded to batter yours truly off the next peg.  Honestly this guy is good, he had my trousers down and was dry fisting me before I knew what was going on. The twat jolly good fellow had 33lb 7oz for top weight on the top lake.  The utter utter..............
The final section was won by Dave Edwards with 23lb 4oz. Again due to an island being in the way and me not expecting to report meant I didn't find out how he caught. He seemed quite pleased to have beaten Tony Wilson though!
The Christmas draw was won by some people but as usual I wasn't one of them so they can piss off!
YO HO HO Merry Christmas everyone!!!!

Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to everyone

See you soon

Paul's  tactics Gel at Lingy

A decent turnout at Lingmere this week with 16 Eggy members lining the banks.
The day before the Saturday Open guys had a great day with the maestro Jamie Hughes winning with 137lb.
Time for the eggy boys to show those guys how to do it properly !!!!.
After a hearty breakfast and the usual highs and lows of the draw battle commenced.
Wearing a heavy coating of hair gel Paul Robb managed to net 37-01lb and turn out as today's winner.
Accepting the regular advice offered by Patto such as go home lady boy , If you catch any more I'm going to bum you Paul still managed to outdo us all and using the Monkey method cemented the podium place after a long absence.
In second place the ear battered Match Captain Davey H settled into a rhythm and mustered 30-12lb to come a close second.
In third was the ever popular Sumo. A varied attack managed to get him on the podium with 17-15lb.
As a Xmas gift I have organsed a " How to tell the Time " session with some local 5 year olds for Sumo. After dumping in all his bait at 14:15hrs and then asking Davey H to shout the all out it was a pleasure to inform the stupid prick that we still had an hour to go - HELMET.

So with the top 3 sorted the sections were decided amongst the usual suspects.
Claude Van Dim managed 12-13lb from section A for the money.
Sumo triumphed in section B putting Cooko and Normo in their places.
Dennis after getting a day off from the Grotto put 15-12lb in the sling to take E section.

Eggy Ferry's eye candy have a sweet day at Lathoms

8 hardy souls turned out for this one.
Despite some hard frosts and the coldest nights of the year everyone caught.
Following two days of fog and frost it was a surprise to wake up Sunday morning with clear skies and a temperature of 6 degrees.
An all you can eat breakfast in Ormskirk was taken by a few except for Nasty Nick who preferred  stuffing his pockets with free sausages rather than pay the £4.29 breakfast fee.
With plenty of room on the lake we had two sections. In section A were Fat Bastard (Sumo ) Brad Patterson , George Clooney ( Cookie ) and Tom ( Bucko ). In  the far uglier section were Claude , Eric , Davey H and Any Old Bait Harrop.
Regular top ups of Bovril were on offer and these warmed us to the task ahead .It also gave Cookie the chance of an extra dump or two on they way round.
Bucko started like a house on fire and carried on through the match. With tactics of Maggot and pellet and changing lines he mustered 67-01lb and was the runnaway winner today.
Cookie after 2 hrs of virtually nothing changes lines and fished top 2 and 1 in 3ft foot of water and knocked out 36lb to finish second.
Coming third was Fat Bastard with 32-14lb.
In the ugly sister section Brisso managed to keep the others at bay and 31-13lb was enough to take the envelope,
Once again Lathoms produced and a good day was had by all.

Congratulations again to Bucko and the usual fuck all of 67 lb added to his already impressive number of victories this year

1st Bucko
2nd Cooko
3rd Sumo

Section A Bucko
Section B Brisso

Well done to all who fished

See you soon
