WESTON POOLS, 13/3/11 ~ Massacre part II, a spaghetti weston

Massacre? Well at least the fish didn't suffer as very few were actually caught. A warmish morning, with spring sunshine, a decent butty and cup of tea, and the fishery manager was priming everyone with info on their individual draw. Some listened and some didn't, but the fish weren't playing the game anyway.
When sitting on these commercials, and knowing the stocking levels, you wonder how it could possibly be a struggle to get a few bites on a maggot. but a struggle it was.
Jamie Pickup managed to find a few small carp, tench and barbel on pellet, and although sport was hardly prolific, he blew the opposition away with his weight of 15lb 08oz. A very tidy performance, Jay.
John Edwards missed out on the lottery peg for once, but fished a tidy match by dobbing corn along the far bank, which was only 14metres for him, and managed a dozen small carp to put 14lb on the scales to secure first loser spot. Well done Sumo.
Third place went to Lee Pickup, who despite arguing with a bed of rushes, got the better of a few residents and ended with 11lb 08oz. Have a word with your dad Lee, he's lettin the family name down!! Another fine display.
Part of the advice given at the draw was 'the tip' to the far bank, but Pete Lucas, The Method Maestro, ignored the tip for the most part. When he finally chucked it out in sheer desparation, it went round and produced a 6lb carp, which boosted his total to 8lb 08oz, and secured a section win. IF ONLY Pete, but well done.
The Gnome also winkled out a few small carp, tench and crucians, on 4mm pellet, which amounted to 10lb 08oz, and the other section win.
I must take my hat off to Tony B............He jokingly said, 'put your hat back on,Yozz, I haven't had a bite since you took it off two hours ago'. I put the hat back on and his tip flew round for his only bite of the day (nearly).
Please note the new, more accurate weights, all pounds and half pounds, courtesy of our new scales. Glad the summer's on it's way, with bigger weights...teehee.
